Run Dorothy is a five-piece math rock band hailing from the eastern side of Metro Manila. Formed in
2010, the band’s first couple of years were marked with several member changes, which drove them to
switch from one genre to another.
It wasn’t until 2012, having finally solidified their lineup, that Run Dorothy – comprised of Dee Cruz
(vocals), Basi Basilio (guitars), Bogs Del Rey (guitars), Ino Tiglao (bass), and Jepoy Santos (drums) – had
managed to figure out which one they truly wanted to pursue.
This allowed the band to build a stronger foundation that drove them to seek out more opportunities,
playing more shows under various production outfits such as A Spur of the Moment Project, The Rest Is Noise, Indie Manila,
and Red Ninja Productions. Soon, the band had gained a solid following, helping them establish their presence in the local
gig circuit. They also made a guest appearance at Jam 88.3’s Fresh Filter Studio Sessions, where they
played their songs live on the radio.
In 2016, Run Dorothy released their debut EP, Sanguine, which they launched to a packed crowd at
Route 196 in Quezon City. It was featured in several publications such as Billboard Philippines, Inquirer, Pulp Magazine,
and Bandwagon. In the same year, the band played Scout Magazine’s second anniversary gig
at Samsung Hall, joined their Campus Tour at De La Salle University, and landed within the pages of the
youth publication’s July-August 2016 print issue.
In 2017, their single, “Measures”, enjoyed frequent airplay on Jam 88.3. Later, the band would be
featured on the second issue of Purveyr Magazine. It was also this year that Run Dorothy’s following
grew even further, reaching outside Metro Manila and even outside the Philippines, as the band
continued to book gigs and play stages big and small.
